Last week, we attended the International School of Monaco’s annual graduation ceremony -an event we looks forward to every year. It is always a wonderful opportunity to catch up with school teachers, parents, connect with students, and most importantly, celebrate the academy’s graduates as they take their next big step in life.
This year was particularly special, marking 2024 the third consecutive year that an Athena Academia student received the Most Improved Student of the Year award. The award was handed by the President of the National Council, Thomas Brezzo, to Kiara Kling, one of the academy’s star students. When Kiara began working with Athena, she was achieving a grade 3 in Mathematics. Through her dedication and focused work with the academy’s tutors, she not only grew in confidence but also made a remarkable leap to a grade 7 in her IB exams – in just five months. This transformation in mathematics created a domino effect, boosting her performance across all her subjects. Kiara’s success is a testament to what targeted support, determination, and the right mindset can achieve.
The ceremony itself was a beautiful celebration of achievement, with guest speaker David Coulthard, former Formula 1 driver and 13-time Grand Prix winner, delivering an inspiring presentation about his career. He shared stories of victories, challenges, and setbacks, highlighting the importance of resilience and focus -messages that resonated strongly with the graduates and their families.
This year, six Athena Academia students graduated from ISM:
- Kiara Kling
- Tiger Rollen
- Matteo Modiano
- Andrey Melnikov
- Angelica Caspani
- Emilie Velez

They are now headed to some of the world’s most prestigious universities, including University College LondonandUniversity of Chicago. Athena Academia is proud to have supported them in subjects ranging from Mathematics and Higher Level Physics to Biology, helping them reach their academic goals.
As they embark on their university journeys, the academy will continue to support many of them—particularly the aspiring physicists and engineers—as they take on new academic challenges. The entire Athena Academia team wishes each graduate the very best for the exciting road ahead.
